Starbucks Planned for Former Brown’s Chicken Lot

After years of soliciting Starbucks to enter the robust markets of the 45th Ward, it is with great pleasure that I announce their plans to open a new Jefferson Park location in the former Brown’s Chicken building located at 5601 W. Lawrence.
Brown’s Chicken closed their doors in January. It didn’t take long for Starbucks to become interested in the site due to its proximity to the Jefferson Park Transit Center and the prime intersection that is already home to Jewel, BeefBelly, Molly & Myles and Smakosz Restaurant.
Starbucks plans to reactivate the drive thru at the location. We’re working with Starbucks, CDOT and the Department of Planning and Development to ensure that its operations mesh with $250,000 of new pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle safety improvements along Central, from Goodman to Montrose.
An opening date and final details are still being worked out between the City and Starbucks, and we will share them as they become available. Permits have been applied for.
I see this new Starbucks as another milestone as we work together on the continuing revitalization of our neighborhood.
