The Chicago Police Department announced leadership changes this week. Commander Looney of the 16th District Police Station is set to retire after serving the residents of Chicago for the past 32 years. Commander Moss of the 17th District Police Station has been selected to serve as the next Executive Officer of Area Central.
I would like to take a moment to extend my deepest gratitude to both Commander Looney and Commander Moss for the time they spent serving our city and our communities. Their drive, dedication, and compassion distinguished them as leaders in our police department.
Maureen Biggane will replace Commander Looney as the 16th District Commander. Commander Biggane most recently held the position of Lieutenant in the Office of the 1st Deputy. She has served on the Chicago Police Department since 1992 with positions in the Bureau of Organized Crime, the Office of Communications, the Office of the Superintendent, the Detective Division, and on the 12th, 21st, and 9th Districts. She has a Master of Business Administration degree from St. Xavier University and is a member of the Illinois Bar Association with a Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall Law School.
Commander Looney will remain at the 16th District in the coming weeks to help with the transition to Commander Biggane. I am confident that Commander Biggane will fill the role that Commander Looney is leaving behind with the same level of confidence and determination.
Ronald Pontecore Jr. will replace Commander Moss as the 17th District Commander. Commander Pontecore most recently was the Commander of the 8th District. He has served in the Chicago Police Department for 27 years with positions as Captain in the Inspections Division, as Captain at the 25th District, as a Lieutenant in the 17th District, as a member of the Gang Team, and held positions in the 25th, 15th, and 10th Districts. He has a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Lewis University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from DePaul University.
Please join me in thanking both Commander Looney and Commander Moss for their service and in welcoming Commander Biggane and Commander Pontecore to our communities.
